Backstory
Cartographed is the serendipitous result of the proud new owner of a 3D printer asking his geography-nerd brother if there was any way to make models of the landscape.
Multiple spools of plastic filament and gigabytes of elevation data later, each model that grows into existence is a fascinating new miniature piece of the world waiting to be discovered.
Inspiration
Until now, cartography has been a realm of the abstract: flat maps or computer renderings imitate the world through symbols. When Cartographed, there is no need to represent the place with lines — you are holding it in the palm of your hand.
Future
We want to reconnect you to the places of your life and give you the ridgelines or skylines that made you who and what you are.
